Apple iPhone is the highest selling smartphones at three of four wireless carriers

The company based in Cupertino, California has now had its smartphones as the top sellers at Verizon and AT&T for every month of this year, first with the iPhone 4 and then the 4S. The pattern was continued with Sprint this October as the 4S was launched on the carrier. However, despite this, the smartphones manufactured by Samsung have given very close competition to Apple all along the way. Some time ago this year, the Samsung Droid Charge 4G at Verizon and the Samsung Infuse 4G at AT&T competed closely with Apple each month, taking a close second spot behind the Apple iPhone at the two carriers. The GalaxyS II now seems to be continuing that trend with even more pace at AT&T and Sprint.
This year, Samsung has already overtaken Apple to become the biggest manufacturer of smartphones in terms of volume; however the company has not succeeded in surpassing the sales of the iPhone even with its top-of-the-line smartphones which boast of better specs and more features than the iPhone. The release of the 4S by Apple this October helped the company dent the momentum developed by the S II, and the handset succeeded in selling much more units than any of its predecessors in the first few weeks after its launch. However, Samsung is not giving up any plans to compete as hard as possible with Apple’s juggernaut as it plans to launch the Galaxy Nexus with Verizon some time later this month.
