15 Wanted Features in iPhone 5 To Propel it as Unstoppable Force

The iPhone 5 rumors are spreading every day as most probable specifications with clear distinction over the unpredictable ones. Apple has all along remained on top with its innovative design structure and offered consumers the opportunity to know what a smartphone can really bring forth.

Although other smartphone manufacturers too offer awesome specifications, they are not able to match the ease of use which iPhone users enjoy. The iPhone scores over others in terms of the hardware's integration with the iOS. Apple has become the company today by studiously avoiding competing on specs, and instead, competing to deliver the best user experience.
In fact, more than the technical specifications, operating systems make the big difference in how fast a device works. If the operating system is not consistent or compatible with hardware, then the smartphone ends up with various errors and many glitches. Ninety percent of the users simply take the device in their hand and try out what they see. Also as an operating system, iOS provides consistent 60 fps, while Android barely manages to get 30 fps and some devices even score lower.

Ironically, many companies are in a rebellious mood against Apple. They have started to push web apps as a way around with restrictions and charges on the app store. Apple as a brand is respected and their vision as a corporation is unmatchable. Hence, competitors often play into their hands. Other manufacturers tend to imitate the design and software and introduce their own app stores, which give the impression that they are desperate to be like Apple which may add to consumer loyalty as Apple is perceived the best benchmark.
Underneath the plain and simple iOS home screen, Apple’s API’s for audio, graphics multimedia in general are leagues ahead of Android. This is the main reason why there are 'tons' of fantastic creative apps for music, art, video and photography from many established software houses and independent developers, bringing the most-required silky experience in an Apple device.
Also Apple’s eco system is one of the greatest selling factor of their products. Apple creates their own hardware and software to control the entire package. However, most of the competing companies bring out parts and pieces from different sources. That means the hardware is from one company and software is from the other.
Of course, the exception to this norm being the BlackBerry-maker Research in Motion which has little sense of what smartphone consumers really want. In fact, Google’s power in the mobile computing world seems to grow with every new product announcement and Android device that comes into the market. However, the search giant is missing one piece of the puzzle that Apple does better than anyone else, mainly because of its product integration.
Also Amazon, Microsoft and Google are starting to appreciate what Apple's eco system effects have on products and services. Apple’s eco system is one of the main stay for the company, as the little things like -- streaming from the main library of iTunes on the other machines, bouncing video and audio with Airplay, making available all the content online at discounted prices and the ability to share apps with five different devices -- have helped Apple lead the way as a complete experience for years. And Amazon is one of those companies which has paid attention to this and is positioning itself better. Amazon being a big retailer already, the only missing tool in their position is a device like iPhone.
Even though Apple can remain on top with their devices with higher specifications, here is a look at 15 features which can make the upcoming iPhone 5 an unstoppable force.
4G:
4G is being developed to advance the quality of service and rate requirements set by further development of existing 3G applications like mobile broadband access, Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), video chat, mobile TV, but also new services like HDTV. 4G may allow roaming with wireless local area networks, and may interact with digital video broadcasting systems. As it provides seamless mobility, 4G will offer very high data rates with expectations of 100 Mbit/s wireless service. The increased bandwidth and higher data transmission rates will allow 4G users the ability to utilize high definition video and the video conferencing features of mobile devices attached to a 4G network. The 4G wireless system is expected to provide a comprehensive IP solution where multimedia applications and services can be delivered to the user on 'Anytime, Anywhere' basis with a satisfactory high data rate, premium quality and high security. AT&T, Verizon and Sprint are on the verge of 4G competition, but the battery life has plagued the cause of the 4G usage. However, if Apple integrates this feature with battery compatibility, then they would have the biggest advantage over other smartphones, which may even offer better specifications.
Design Change:
The design of any product plays an important role, especially with smartphones as it is very important to combine art, science and technology to create a tangible three-dimensional product. When it comes to the iPhone, Apple has always updated the design of their smartphone every year. Keeping in mind the track record of Apple delivering exceptional innovation in terms of design, one can expect a nice-looking smartphone in either case. Analysts and the tech world is abuzz that the iPhone 5 may have the traits of Apple iPad 2 in terms of design. Rumors suggest a more uniformed design across all of Apple's mobile devices as aluminum may be the consistent material used in the upcoming iPad 3 and iPodlineups as well. Few others predict that the iPhone 5 will closely resemble the iPhone 4.
Battery Life:
With previous versions of Apple already giving better battery life compared to many other phone manufacturers, Apple providing an improved battery performance on the iPhone 5 will boost the experience of the consumers. Also Apple has always updated the battery life with different versions of iPhones and hence, the probability of iPhone 5 featuring a better battery is imminent.
World Phone Approach:
Although Apple's iPhone 4 has dual-band world chip for both CDMA and GSM networks, Apple didn’t enable GSM network support in the Verizon iPhone 4. Rumors say that Apple may implement the world phone with SIM-less design which is expected to act as a true world phone.
Dual Core Processor:
As many Android-powered phones are equipped with dual-core processors, it is highly possible that Apple will implement this feature in the next generation iPhone. Although there is no report so far about the possible processor the iPhone 5 may carry, most of the predictions are hinting at the iPad 2’s A5 1GHz processor to be featured in the iPhone 5 as well.
Improved Camera:
The reports about Apple's iPhone 5 featuring a 8-megapixel camera is going on for a while. Latest reports say Sony is developing the camera for the iPhone 5. The new iPhone is also expected to come with 8 megapixel camera with new lenses, which are reportedly being provided by two Taiwanese companies Largan Precision and Genius Electronic Optical.
According to a CNET report, the iPhone 5 will have an improved flash unit for its camera. Citing industry sources, the report says Apple has reduced orders for iPhone 4's current LED flash.
Apart from the rear-facing camera, Apple's smartphone is also expected to have a front-facing one for video chatting. It is expected to include a dual LED flash with rumors that the flash unit will be separated from the camera sensor. It is also reported that its new panoramic imaging feature will allow instant panoramic shots with Apple’s stock photo app and that the device may also have the ability to record 1080p high definition videos.
Bigger Display:
Now the smartphone norm for display is above 4-inch. The iPhone 4 has a 3.5-inch display with a contrast ratio of 800:1 marketed by Retina Display support based on the assertion of replicating human retina. Most of the rumors point out that Apple will improve its screen size and even the design casing produced pinpoint a 4-inch display which is becoming the norm.
Flash support:
If Apple is able to adopt flash support into the iPhone 5, then this can place Apple so high that no other smartphone can catch up soon.
Improved Cloud computing:
The cloud computing existed in Apple devices include the iTools in 2000, .Mac in 2002, and MobileMe in 2008. According to an Apple support page, MobileMe will be discontinued after June 30, 2012, and anyone who had an account as of the unveiling date of iCloud has been given extension until that date, free of charge. The cloud-based system allows users to store music, photos, applications, documents, Safari bookmarks, iBooks and contacts, besides serving as a platform for Apple's e-mail servers and calendars. Photo Stream is a service bundled with the basic iCloud service. This service allows users to store 1,000 photos on the iCloud servers for free. When a photo is taken on a device with Photo Stream enabled, it is automatically uploaded to the iCloud server.
Notification Bar:
The top gray bar on the Android screen displays important information about the Android phone. The Android notifications have always appeared in the top bar of their operating system. It shows time, battery state, network state, Bluetooth and GPS, among other icons. Android also shows icons in the notification bar when there is an update about a text message, email or voicemail. One of the biggest advantages of the notification bar is that one can pull it down by touching the bar and then swipe one's finger at the bottom of the screen to stretch and open up the bar, just like a window shade.
The recently unveiled iOS 5 also has a "notification bar" enabled in it. This is perhaps the most blatant copy of an Android feature to the iOS. The recently added "notification center" in the Apple iOS will help users get all their alerts in one place. Now, users who buy the Apple iPhone or iPad will get new email and text notifications, stock ticker, friend requests and weather updates, among other things, all in one convenient location, just by swiping down from the top of any screen to enter the notification center.
In fact, the biggest advantage of having a notification bar is that notifications don't interrupt you, and the bar disappears quickly.
Improved Storage and RAM memory:
Apple lacks card slot in its previous iPhone versions but boasts of higher storage capacity. One way in which Apple’s iPhone versions differ from other smartphones in the market is in terms of its removable storage. None of the previously released iPhones have featured removable storage. This is probably by design, as it helps justify a higher priced model with more memory. In fact, some iPhone users are unhappy with the lack of a memory card slot, which can expand the handset’s storage capabilities and provide a quick and easy way to back up data. Apple iPhone versions always have lesser RAM memory compared to other major smartphones. It will be good to see the iPhone 5 featuring 1 GB RAM.
NFC support:
Certain rumors suggest that Apple may implement NFC support. NFC, allows simplified transactions, data exchange, and wireless connections between two devices in close proximity, usually by no more than a few centimeters. Emerging NFC standards allow customers to quickly purchase products and transfer secure information by touching devices. NFC allows companies to reduce staffing, printing, and point of sale costs. Globally, 100 million people use mobile payment outside the U.S., but only 3.5 million use the technology in the U.S. As of now, NFC is just a rumor for the iPhone 5 and most probably Apple won’t be embracing the technology, since Near Field Communication has no industry standards. But Apple’s fifth generation iPhone will have mobile payment accessibility. Apple is expected to team up with PayPal for this.
Biometric security:
The biometric security devices have vast advantage over conventional security methods. It is used in IT industry starting from IT vendors to end-users where high security is critical at all times. Biometrics security technology protects highly sensitive information from getting into the wrong hands and also prevents unauthorized physical access to safety establishments. In US airports, biometrics is almost the standard procedure in screening passengers.
As more and more online transactions are taking place, banks and financial institutions make use of security biometrics to safeguard financial and other sensitive transactions on the net. The most obvious advantage is the enhanced safety feature compared to conventional security measures like locks and passwords. Finger prints and retina features cannot be tampered with and hence, provide fool-proof security.
Removable Battery:
The iPhone 4 has tremendous battery life, but it is still limited. People who travel prefer to have spare batteries and the ability to swap a dead battery for a fully charged one on the fly for those trips where they might be away from a charging source for an extended period of time. The iPhone’s battery is — like all iPod batteries — not user-replaceable. And like every battery ever made, it’s going to lose the ability to hold a charge over time. While the stories about the iPhone’s battery evaporating in two years are simply wrong, the fact is that sooner or later the iPhone’s battery will die.
MHL USB support:
Samsung has also included a new high-definition connection technology called Mobile High-definition Link (MHL). MHL has been noted as being "connection agnostic" in that it can use virtually any interface connection, such as HDMI or USB, for sending high-definition uncompressed 1080p video and audio files from a mobile device. The main specialty of MHL is that it is optimized for mobile devices by allowing the device's battery to be charged while at the same time playing back multimedia content.
