iPhone 5 Details Leaked by O2 and Vodafone
Colour and memory options, as well as a possible release date, are rumoured to have been leaked by Vodafone and O2, respectively.
Vodafone's product pages were shown to have included listings for the iPhone 5 in among compatible devices for the company's Sure Signal booster. The listing for phones compatible with the signal booster included white and black iPhone 5 models, and included the unusual detail of showing them available in 16GB and 32GB models. Why it would be necessary to list the same device with different colour and memory options when showing its compatibility nobody can quite figure out.
Vodafone refused to comment on the iPhone 5, simply saying they would look into how the listing appeared on their site.
O2's possible slip came in the form of a report that phone blog KnowYourMobile managed to find a source who had spoken with their contact at O2 (whose uncle's friend's dog once babysat for, etc), who said that the iPhone 5 would be released in the UK on October 21st. While it seems unlikely O2 would allow such leaks, the date does fit in with general expectations for the UK release date, and some US providers have been dropping a few hints at when the new iPhone might drop in the US.
Carrier Sprint is reported to have informed employees they can't take any holidays at the beginning of October. While that doesn't guarantee that the phone is definitely coming out then, it certainly seems to indicate that the company thinks it might. Sprint, Verizon and long-term iPhone provider AT&T will all be hoping for a release soon, with the former two gearing up for their first ever new iPhone model sales flurry.
