Features that Could have Made iPhone 5 Even More Glamorous

iPhone5The iPhone 5 has been released at last. The hype and media frenzy surrounding its release has ebbed slowly. Although Apple claims the iPhone 5 to be the best that could happen to the smartphone market since the release of first gen iPhone, some techie folks fail to agree. While we had been waiting to see a revolutionary product in iPhone 5, Apple somehow disappointed us with this mediocre redesign of iPhone 4.
The iPhone 5, coming from the stables of Apple, certainly has many coveted features and specs. That’s one of the reasons why the iPhone has garnered such mixed reactions from the tech press and public. There are some features we expected in iPhone 5 that didn’t make the final cut.
But here are a list of features, if included in iPhone 5, could have upped its glamour quotient immensely.
  • Better and more improved Siri: Apple’s personal assistant is perhaps the most successful and famous voice recognition product. Since Siri has been used in many iPhone 4S models already, we were expecting iPhone 5 to sport something new and more advanced. There is a vast potential for Siri to explore that can help in controlling the functions of the iPhone 5 more effectively.
  • NFC (Near Field Communication): Yes, if Apple has included NFC capability in its iPhone 5, it would have been so much better. There had been a lot of expectations that Apple will deploy NFC capability for iPhone 5. NFC would have meant easier wireless transfer of payments and faster data transmissions. Let’s hope that Apple’s digital wallet, the Passbook, works brilliantly well and helps us forget the missing NFC capability.
  •  Wireless charging: It would have been great if the iPhone 5 had been equipped with wireless charging capacity. But that’s not the case now as Apple still needs to be physically hooked on to an electrical outlet for recharging.
  • Biometrics: Biometric security was a popular request from many Apple customers. And Apple has yet again disappointed us in this regard. We were hoping for a biometric reader that would lock/unlock applications by recognizing owner’s eyeball or fingerprints.
  • Better camera: While Apple’s iPhone 5 comes with a slightly improved camera than the one found in iPhone 4s, the final pictures are likely to look under exposed and way too blurry. The camera in rival Nokia phones is way ahead in terms of quality and colour.
  •  Better battery life: Apple’s batteries have long been a subject of intense scrutiny and discussion because of their lack of sustainability. This time around Apple has claimed to have made the battery of iPhone 5 far better than iPhone 4S. While some may feel content with this superficial improvement, other heavy users would need to recharge their battery couple of times a day or carry battery case along.
  • Bigger and more glamorous screen: Although a bigger screen doesn’t figure on top of the ‘must-have features’ list, it certainly would have added to the beauty of the phone.
These were some of the most anticipated and top-of-the-list features that customers hoped to find in Apple’s iPhone 5. Here’s hoping that Apple, continuing its rich tradition of enthralling us with brilliantly made products, will incorporate these features in its future products.
